Sara Walker Ball
Sarah Bernice Walker Ball, age 71, of Jasper, FL. passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center. Sarah was born on April 29, 1947 in Bogalusa, Louisiana to the late Dudley Ray and Eloise Stogner Walker. Sarah was just one of those people who could instantly make you feel like family. She was what you refer to as a "people person". For many years she worked at the local S & S Stores and Johnson and Johnson stations and Sarah greeted the customers and picked up on conversations as if she had known them all of her life. She put people at ease because she could carry the conversation. Sarah would tell you in a heartbeat however, that one of her favorite past-times was going on trips and gaming. She took many trips to Biloxi with different friends and family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and was fiercely protective as every mother should be. In 2004 she buried her husband of 36 years, Lee David Ball. Also preceding her in death was a grandson, Landon Ball and her sister, Ethel Ray Walker. Survivors include her children, Kelinda Hughes (Chris), Sheila Gonzalez, James "Hoppy" Ball and Lee "Charlie" Ball; her step children, Daphne Coleman (Brandon), David Ray Ball and Priscilla Davis (Donny); two sisters, Bobbie Coleman and Virginia Doris Brien; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive and the staff at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center who she grew to love as her extended family. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Jasper, FL. with Pastor Roger Hutto officiating. Interment followed at Vickers Baptist Church Cemetery in Enigma, GA. Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics Hamilton County, 3973 113th Lane, Jasper, FL. 32052. Harry T. Reid Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
