Ruthetta's Story

Ruthetta Mae Tennis passed away on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017. Ruthetta Boose was born in Littlestown, PA on July 13, 1932 to Millard Franklin Boose and Catherine Elizabeth Coffman Boose. She and her husband Richard Tennis and their young children moved to Orlando in the 1950's, then Brevard County where they spent their working lives before retiring to White Springs in the 1990's.
During her life, she was always on the go. She was a baking wizard and entrepreneur, who made amazing cakes for every occasion and owned a sandwich shop in Cocoa Village. Her friends and family will always remember her wonderful letter-writing skills and the ability to remember every important day in everyone's life with a thoughtful card. Ruthetta never missed a weekend at the flea market. She and Richard are both lifelong members of the Moose Lodge, and she was active in the Women of the Moose chapters in Merritt Island and Lake City.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Kay Tennis in 1963. She is survived by her husband Richard; daughter Vicky Tennis; brother Kenny Boose; grandchildren, John Hannum (Pasquale Armendola) and Tifani Hannum Hood (J.P.) and great-grandchildren Elijah and Taylor Ann Hood.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017 at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, 901 4th St NW, Jasper, FL 32052. Memorial contributions may be made to: Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center, 6037 West US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055 or at www.havenhospice.org/lake-city.aspx.
