Raymond Boyd Smart, age 79, of White Springs, Fla. passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Fla.
Raymond was born in Scottsboro, Ala. He was a longtime resident of Hamilton County and worked for many years as a supervisor with the State of Florida Department of Transportation. As a young man Mr. Smart served in both the United States Army and the United States Navy. As long as his health permitted he was a faithful member of Jasper Assembly of God.
Raymond was preceded in death by his mother Emma Lou Smart Stankey. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Angie Cason and a great granddaughter, Serenity Miller.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Willa D. Smart; two sons, Raymond "Ray" W. Smart and Waylon P. Smart (Donna Sue Tharp); four daughters, Sandra Smart, Kimberly Erixton (Gary), Shauna Tyre (Henry) and Trina Ball (James); his father, Thomas Stankey; a brother, Harland Guffey; a sister, Joyce Bailey; 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Also surviving is his son-in-law, Frankie Cason.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the Jasper Assembly of God Church. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper.
Harry T. Reid Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
