Ollie Douglas "Doug" Lee, age 76, of White Springs, FL. passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Shands Lake Shore Hospital in Lake City, FL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Suwannee Station Baptist Church in Suwannee County, FL. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Doug was born in Tylertown, Mississippi on June 6, 1940 to the late Ollie and Edith Bowman Lee. As a young man he served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He worked at Occidental/PCS for some 38 years and retired as a 1st Class mechanic. He was known to be quite the cook at home, famous for his fish frying skills, and on Friday's at work he was "Chief Cook" always bringing something to the table for the crew. Doug had personality like none other. He enjoyed working and he enjoyed playing. He was a talented musician and loved bluegrass music. When he was able to roll together the cooking, the music and the gift of fellowship with family and friends Doug thought that was just about as perfect as life could get.
He believed in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a member of Suwannee Station Baptist Church. He was a family man and loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as much as any man could love his family.
Survivors include his wife Mary Katherine Brantley Lee of White Springs; two sons, Chris Lee and his wife Angie of White Springs and Mike Lee and his wife Jennifer of Lake City, FL.; one brother, Joel Lee of Mississippi and a sister, Kathleen Dillon also of Mississippi; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one on the way.
In lieu of flowers Doug would have wanted contributions made to further his granddaughters ministry. Please make check to Amber Abbott, 9130 SE 128th Ave, White Springs, FL. 32096.
Harry T. Reid Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
