Mary Ellen Tatum, 78, beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, died at home among loved ones after a battle with cancer. She was born in Tampa, Florida to parents Harry Stewart and Ellen Barnes Stewart. She was a fifth generation native Floridian. Her remains will be buried in the Magnolia Cemetery, Lecanto, Florida. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Robert (Bob) Tatum. They moved to Hamilton County in 2003 when Mary Ellen retired from a career in banking. She is also survived by: her siblings, Ann Stewart Williams, Lynn Stewart Carlson, and Harry Walton Stewart; her children, Russell Tatum (Mark Garner), and Deanna Tatum Mericle (Chris Mericle); her granddaughters, Hannah Mericle and Jacquelyn Mericle and their respective families. She loved animals, plants and being outdoors. She always had a yard with many flowers, bird feeders, and bird baths. She loved dogs and leaves behind her two beloved English bulldogs, Iris and Sully. She was a fun-loving, beautiful woman. She is truly missed. Her family is respecting her wishes that no funeral service be held.
