Mary's Story

Mary L. Bowles (Mother) was born on September 15, 1921 in Valdosta, Ga. She received her education in the Hamilton County Public School System. She was a faithful member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. S.B. Bristol (deceased). At the time of her demise she was serving under the leadership of Rev. Billy Mitchell. Ms. Mary L. Bowles (mother) was joined in matrimony to the late Fred Jr. Bowles on December 23, 1946. To this union eleven children were born. She peacefully departed her mortal life on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at her home under the care of Haven Hospice of Lake City, Fla.
Mother leaves to mourn: four daughters, Missouri Baker of Jasper, Fla., Ernestine Smith of Jasper, Fla., Annie L. Williams (James), Tallahassee, Fla., Sara Mitchell of Jasper, Fla. Two sons: Willie Frank Bowles (Dorothy) of Jasper, Fla., Freddie L. Bowles of White Springs, Fla. Two brothers: Ray Williams (Vera) of Lake City, Fla., Tommy G. Williams of Columbia, SC. Two daughters in-law: Charlene Bowles of Lake City, Fla., Joanne Bowles of St. Petersburg, Fla. 41 grandchildren, 105 great-grandchildren. A devoted friend, Cora Simmons, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and sorrowing friends. Ms. Mary L. Bowles services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday July 2 at the Old Hamilton County High School Auditorium. Burial will follow in the Westlake Cemetery. The Bowles Family will receive other relatives and sorrowing friends Friday, July 1, from 4-8 p.m. at the Chapel of Eric A. Brown and Son Funeral. Professional Mortuary Services are entrusted to Eric A. Brown and Son Funeral.
