Louise Johnson's Story
Mrs. Louise Johnson Swofford Vinson, age 87, of Jasper, FL, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday November 24, 2017. Louise was a native of Hahira, GA. She was born April 8, 1930 to the late Ivey Webster Johnson and Estelle Kelley Johnson. Louise met, fell in love, and married Glenn Swofford and together they raised their three children. During their marriage they traveled the state through his job and later settled in Jasper. She was a loving wife to Glenn and took care of him until his death in 1981. Louise was a very humble lady, who would never brag on herself, but everyone knew she was an excellent caregiver and homemaker. She had a contagious smile that would brighten any room. With a vibrant personality, she never met a stranger which made her perfect for her job at the Florida Welcome Center. At the same time of her retirement, she married Jack Vinson and with that she gained another family that she cared for and treated as her own. Louise was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was "Mema" to all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved them all and enjoyed spending time with them. Mema was always dressed nice and struttin' her stuff. She always made sure each of them knew she was proud of them. Mema was the type of mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who always made you feel loved and special. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn and two sisters, Doris Johnson Molle and Alma Johnson Scherban. Survivors include her husband Jack Vinson; two sons, Roger (Barbara) Swofford of Alpharetta, GA and Alan Swofford of Jennings, FL; her daughter Glenda (Brice) Dennis of Jasper, FL; brothers Paul (Linda) Johnson and Jimmy Johnson, sister Mary Anne (Ronnie) Lastinger all of Hahira, GA. Grandchildren Tara (Alan) McLeod, Jamie Martin, Miranda Dennis, Ashley Swofford, Sarah (Dwayne) Orme, Angela (Matt) Smith, Clinton Swofford, Shawn Swofford, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. With her marriage to Jack, she gained a step-son Jeff Vinson, 6 more grandchildren and 8 more great grandchildren. The family would like to extend their appreciation to everyone that helped care of her during her illness these past few years. Funeral Services held Sunday, November 26, 2017 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, FL. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery. Harry T.
