Lenora P. Braswell, age 95, of Jasper, Fla. passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital in Gainesville, Fla.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Jasper, Fla. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Fla.
Lenora was born on July 27, 1921 in Chauncey, Ga. (Dodge County) to the late Olin and Carrie Moore Pritchett. Lenora met and married Gettys F. Braswell and Jasper became her home. Mrs. Braswell worked as a bookkeeper for Florida Power for 45 years. In addition to her full time job she volunteered her time to the Pink Ladies, the Jasper Woman's Club and The Order of the Eastern Star, all worthy organizations. Lenora was known for her green thumb and her ability to grow the most lovely plants and flowers in her yard. She was gifted at making arrangements and used that talent in her role as chairperson and lead organizer of the First Baptist Church Grief Committee. Her commitment to her church family and this committee was a thing of beauty. She organized lunches for grieving families and decorated the fellowship hall beautifully and she did so well into her eighties. Her attention was not just on grieving families, she also helped many brides decorating for bridal showers and wedding receptions over the years. If you stop for a moment, one can just imagine her walking through the flower gardens in Heaven gathering the most beautiful bouquet ever.
Lenora was preceded in death by her husband, Gettys F. Braswell in 1964.
Surviving is her son, Gettys Frank Braswell of Jasper; a nephew and five nieces; and a host of family and friends that loved her dearly.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church "Grief Committee," 207 2nd Street NE, Jasper, Fla. 32052.
Harry T. Reid Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
