Laura Geneva Roper, age 80, of Jasper, FL. passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at North Florida Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Ms. Roper was born on September 2, 1937 in Halo, Georgia to the late Aaron and Bessie Dedge. Geneva met and married Roland Roper and together they raised five children. Geneva will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her loving and caring spirit. She was a wonderful friend to anyone who opened their heart and let her in. Geneva worked as a pharmacy tech at Kayo's Drug Store for many years until the doors closed and then later at Rite Aid when it first came to town. She was always a "Classy" lady and was undeniably an asset to her employers because of her easy personality and the shear knowledge she had in the pharmacy industry. Geneva was a devout Christian and loved her God with all her heart. She is undoubtedly strolling over heaven with those who have gone before her. Geneva was preceded in death by her husband Roland Roper, her daughter, Betty Barfuss, her parents, James and Bessie Dedge, her sister, Vivian O'Neal and her brother, Ray Dedge. Survivors include two sons, Bobby Roper (Kim), Moncks Corner, S.C. and Ronnie Roper, Jasper, FL.; two daughters, Debbie Ginger (Bill), Destin, FL. and Theresa Marshall (Dale), Wewahitchka, FL.; four brothers, J.M. Dedge, Albany, GA., Leo Dedge, Live Oak, FL., Charlton Dedge, Wellborn, FL. and William Dedge, Madison, FL.; two sisters, Barbara Matthews, Monticello, FL. and Annette Kline, Lake City, FL.; 8 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Sadler officiating.
