Ella Marie Harrell, age 88, of Jennings, Fla. passed away early on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Fla.
Most of those who knew and loved her, knew her simply as "El". She was born in Lakeland, Fla. on February 17, 1928 to the late Lyman and Emma Avriett Parker. At the age of 18 she met the love of her life, Herman Harrell. This year they would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. El and Herman made their home in Jennings, Fla. where she was known quite well for her baking of the most delicious carrot cakes, coconut cakes and many other sweets and treats. She was a substitute teacher for a number of years and became "Nanny" to all of the school children. El was kind hearted and often did small deeds for children around town that required a little extra loving. She loved to quilt and many in the community were blessed by the gifting of those quilts. Mrs. Harrell was a longtime faithful member of Jennings United Methodist Church. She will be remembered as a dedicated wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Herman Harrell; her son and daughter-in-law Michael H. and Vicki Harrell of Live Oak, Fla.; her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Larry Burnam of Jennings, Fla.; two sisters, Carolyn McLeod of Jasper, Fla. and Bettye Scribner of San Diego, Ca.; four granddaughters, Amie, Branden, Jennifer and Brigette; three great grandchildren.
